The future is bright after the end of the English Expedition Language Camp 2025 at MAN 1 Ciamis Darussalam! With an overall theme of motivating students and providing everyone a chance to build confidence, practice, and speak, Miss Rebecca, Miss Cassandra, and Mr. Ben believe the event was a great success. A variety of materials was taught to students of the ISC program. They included basics of English, such as pronouns, different verb tenses (past, present, and future), and typical English sentence grammar. More importantly, we consistently provided fun ways for students to practice their conversational speaking skills.
Mr. Ben, one of the Peace Corp teachers, expressed his hopes regarding this activity, “One of the reasons the English Expedition Camp was so impactful is that it helps round out the vision to serve and motivate students who may not realize the potential that accompanies English learning. In our opinion, the camp centers on relationship building with native speakers— relationships that students can continue to lean into long after the camp is over. It is helpful for students to have reasons (friendships, dreams, university prospects, job opportunities, etc.) to continue challenging themselves in learning English as a foreign language. When we join an English camp, we also facilitate spaces for students to feel more comfortable practicing English with different people” he said.
Peace Corps Volunteer English Teachers from the US government will hopefully be a mainstay of the program, offering guidance and motivation as native speakers to the students of MANSACIS. We hope the English Expedition will become a permanent event of the ISC program and eventually expand to all MAN Darussalam Ciamis students, where it will instill in the students the mindset to believe in themselves and try without fear of making mistakes.
The Head of Madrasah expressed his appreciation for holding this activity, “I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to the ISC team for their hard work and dedication in making this event a success. My hope is that this camp will become a memorable experience and a stepping stone for our students to achieve greater things in the future. Keep up the great work!”
